This restoration stood as a testimony to the old saying "Never give up, Never surrender."
This beautiful 1969 Fender Precision bass guitar was purchased by a customer of ours several years ago. He was sold the guitar at a very cheap price because apparently the previous owner was having serious problems with the neck and was told by his local repair shop that the neck was so badly warped that it was beyond repair.
Knowing that we've never been known to give up on any instrument, he decided to bring it in to us and see what we could do. After inspecting the action and twists in the neck, we were even skeptical if something could be done to bring this baby back from the dead. We gave it our best, and after a lot of heat pressing and rubbing and clamping and praying we finally were able to bring this old neck back to life.
Now, if I could've only remembered to get a before / after video with sound. Such is life.
Got any vintage guitar Frankenstein stories of your own? Would love to see and hear 'em...so please share them here if you'd like.
