We are very proud to offer this very nice vintage Martin OO-28 acoustic guitar on behalf of the original owner who purchased the instrument at a local guitar shop for $75.00 back in 1925. This guitar plays and sounds excellent with nice low action. 1925 was the 1st year that Martin began producing this model with bracing techniques fit for steel strings to be used.
In the 1950's, the owner had taken the guitar to a local luthier to have repair work done. After close inspection it looks as though the neck has been reset, and a top seem repair was done during which time they removed the bridge and then once the repair was completed the top was refinished and the bridge was placed back onto the guitar. The guitar also has a shallow hairline crack on the lower left portion of the back but does not seem to go all the way through the wood as I cannot see anything cracked from inside the guitar. The bracing is in excellent original condition and despite all the work that seems to have been done, I can tell you that this guitar sounds and plays great.
Guitar will be packaged very carefully and shipped inside of it's original Felsberg case and packed into a double walled guitar delivery box. Aside from the leather deteriorating around the handle, the case is safe to carry the instrument in and all fasteners are secure.
These vintage Martin guitars have a very interesting history and I recently learned that the majority of the soft shell cases used by Martin starting in 1920 were stamped with a symbol of a bull and the letters "FF", which stands for the Felsberg Company. The Felsberg Company later went on to become the Harptone Company, with the letters "B&C" in 1928.
