1920’s Kumalae Ukulele Extreme Flame Koa
Just in we have this gorgeous 1920’s vintage style 3 ukulele with beautiful rope binding made by famed Hawaiian musician and maker of fine ukuleles Jonah Kumalae. These early Kumalae ukes were among the very first commercially produced Hawaiian string instruments made.
Kumalae got a big break after he won the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915, where his ukulele design won a Gold Award. This enabled Kumalae to market and sell his ukuleles to companies on the U.S. Mainland and, according to many ukulele historians, was instrumental in ushering in a new wave of ukulele and Hawaiian music popularity. Kumalae is considered to be the most prolific ukulele manufacturer of his time
This gorgeous vintage ukulele has the most beautiful high flame Koa wood and aside from a Martin 5K, is the most striking looking musical instrument we have in our ukulele collection.
The uke has had a professionally repaired side and small top crack which you can see in the pictures but is stable and is in very good condition. This ukulele has a very unique tone and sounds so amazing.
